What Melania Wore for Winfield House Dinner

Hosting a dinner with her husband President Trump for Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles at the Winfield House, First Lady Melania Trump turned up the glam in her latest evening look.

Saving the best for last, Melania wore a bold red cape sleeve dress by Givenchy. Designed by Givenchy creative director, Clare Waight Keller, the same designer who designed the Givenchy wedding dress for Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

The Givenchy sequined cape-sleeve wool gown is a key piece from the brand’s Resort 2019 collection. It features a sequined and bead-embroidered neckline and long floor-length cape sleeves that are slit open at the front. The relaxed fitted gown is finished with a satin godet insert and side-slip pockets. It retails for $8,340 and currently available at MATCHESFASHION.com.

As for Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla was seen wearing an elegant floral gown in white from one of her favorite designers Fiona Clare.

This is the third time fashion lovers have seen Melania wearing a cape-style gown for a former dinner event. Last spring, the First Lady wore a Grecian-goddess yellow chiffon, off-the-shoulder draped evening gown by J. Mendel that featured panels that fell from each shoulder. For a dinner honoring French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, Melania was spotted wearing another Givenchy cape gown with duchess satin lapel.

As per tradition, the dinner was planned by the first lady. The 60-person dinner followed a day of meetings to talk business and politics with Prime Minister Theresa May. Guests at the black tie dinner dined on on fresh burrata cheese with heritage tomatoes, basil, and Maldon salt; grilled fillet of beef with pommes Anna, watercress pure, celeriac and chantenay carrots; followed by summer berries, homemade vanilla ice cream with Muscovado sugar tuile.

Guests at the dinner included Trump’s four adult children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, Eric and his wife, Lara, and Tiffany Trump. Ivanka was seen wearing a stunning white off-the-shoulder gown, while Tiffany wore a grey full-length gown.

Also in attendance was Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, press secretary Sarah Sanders and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and his wife, Louise Linton. The former Labor Party Prime Minister Tony Blair also was there.

Winfield House, located near Regent’s Park, is the residence of the ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson. Donald Trump and his family have been staying there during their three day visit to the UK, as Buckingham Palace is undergoing building works. On Wednesday, the Trumps will attend a commemorative event with the Queen o mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day in Portsmouth, the final event of their U.K. state visit.

Love the red cape gown, but don’t want to pay $8,000 for one, fear not below is cheaper alternatives one can get to look glamorous.
